
The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and Tipolis Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based developer of next-generation special economic zones, have signed an agreement on February 25, 2025 to assess the feasibility of a potential joint project in Brunei.
The agreement initiates the specific feasibility study and contract negotiations, aligning with Brunei’s diversification efforts under its national vision Wawasan 2035.
The signing ceremony took place at the main auditorium of the Design and Technology building in Anggerek Desa.
BEDB was represented by its Chairman, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II; while Tipolis was represented by its Chairman and CEO, Dr. Titus Gebel.
YB Dato Dr. Awang Haji Amin Liew highlighted the project’s potential:
“We are committed to achieving the objectives of Wawasan 2035 and ensuring a bright future for Brunei and its people, guided by the visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.”
“We also aim to establish Brunei as a vibrant beacon of opportunity, sustainability and inclusive growth in the region, and attract global investments. This project has the potential to make our economy more dynamic, creating greater economic opportunities for Bruneians and fostering long-term prosperity. We are looking forward to exploring its specific feasibility over the coming months.”
Dr. Titus Gebel, Chairman and CEO of Tipolis Pte Ltd, echoed those sentiments and emphasized:
