Deladi primes for growth in rotating equipment services following first ASEAN Business Award

Deladi Petroleum Services aims to expand its market share in Brunei’s critical rotating equipment (CRE) maintenance sector from 40% to 60% within the next five years, while also pursuing international projects.

In an interview following Deladi’s first ASEAN Business Award on October 9, Managing Director of Deladi and the Adinin Group Hj Musa Hj Adnin said the company has since 2009, completed upgrades and refurbishments for over 75 generator and gas compressor packages.

More than half of these projects have been undertaken outside Brunei, in countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Nigeria, Angola, Gabon, and Congo.

Deladi’s award, received under the category of SME Excellence – Employment, reflects the company’s commitment to local workforce development. Deladi employs 55 people, 60% of whom are Bruneian.

Earlier this year, Deladi became the first Bruneian company to achieve in-house certification for CRE technicians by sending eight Bruneian staff to Florence, Italy, to obtain this specialised qualification.

CRE services involve maintaining and repairing large machines, such as turbines, compressors, and generators, which are essential for keeping energy production and processing systems running smoothly.

Locally, Deladi’s CRE services are focused on the oil and gas industry, primarily serving Brunei Shell Joint Venture companies.

They hold contracts with international companies and OEMs, including Solar Turbines International Company and Siemens Energy Pte Ltd. in Singapore, and Solar Turbines Europe S.A. in Belgium.

Hj Musa also shared that plans are underway to sign a new contract with Solar Turbines Services Nigeria Limited to undertake retrofit and refurbishment projects in Nigeria.

“This recognition will be instrumental in attracting new clients and retaining existing ones, as it showcases the company’s commitment to excellence and quality,” said Hj Musa.

“Deladi’s unique strengths lie in its extensive knowledge of managing high-speed rotating equipment. Its proficiency in executing intricate in-situ refurbishment and retrofit projects solidifies Deladi as a vital asset within the Adinin Group,” he added.

Deladi also provides CRE and other maintenance services in Brunei’s power sector, currently servicing around 2% of the country’s power generation market. Services include inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance to boost efficiency, reduce downtime, and extend equipment lifespan.

“We plan to increase our market share to 20-25% in the next three to five years by partnering with local and international power companies and government agencies to support Brunei’s energy transition goals,” Haji Musa noted.

“We will continue to invest in training programs to equip our technicians with the skills needed for advanced maintenance technologies, focusing on renewable energy plant maintenance to support Brunei’s green energy initiatives.”
