The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), through Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), is calling on Brunei startups to apply for the ASEAN-Korea Startup Innovation Week 2024.
Organised by the ASEAN-Korea Centre and now in its seventh installment, the event aims to foster collaboration and showcase innovative solutions from ASEAN countries and Korea.
This year’s startup week will be conducted over two phases; an online acceleration programme from September 2 to 13, followed by a pitching contest and startup seminar in Seoul from October 21 to 23.
The acceleration programme offers mentoring, networking, and training with Korean startup experts, covering topics such as market segmentation, marketing, legal strategy, and pitching training.
Startups that successfully complete the acceleration programme will receive a fully sponsored trip to Seoul for the second phase.
The pitching contest will award a total of US$50,000 to four outstanding startups. The first-place winner will receive US$30,000, the second-place winner US$10,000, and the third-place winner US$ 5,000. A separate category for most innovative startup will also receive US$5,000.
Brunei startups have been a regular feature at the startup week, with TeachMeGuru securing second place in last year’s edition, winning US$10,000.
DARe will be shortlisting three startups to represent Brunei at the 2024 event. Interested startups can apply and find more information at dare.gov.bn/aksiew. The closing date for applications is July 4, 2024.
