Online marketplace Weelago has launched a three month online bazaar with drive-through stations at Little Soho and Yayasan Shopping Complex to help local businesses digitise and encourage in-country spending during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
The WeeLAH!Go Bazaar integrates into the existing Weelago website through a dedicated category page that houses close to 100 local vendors selling food, clothes and other consumer products for Ramadhan and the upcoming Hari Raya festivities.
Co-founder of Weelago Chris Wong said that their platform has waived monthly listing fees and absorbed online banking transaction charges for vendors, and will only retain a commission fee of 5% off the sale of food and beverage items.
Other items carry a commission fee between 5% to 20% depending on their product category. Wong said their central drive-through stations at Little Soho and Yayasan enables customers to place orders from multiple food and beverage vendors and pick up at a single location for free or pay a single delivery fee of $5 to have all their items sent to them through their logistics partner Hey Domo.
Food and beverage orders placed before 2.30pm can be picked up or be delivered from 4pm onwards for the breaking of fast. Orders placed after 2.30pm will be delivered the following day.
“The central drop off points is about creating a new level of convenience for customers to experience during this time of crisis,” said Wong.
“With the dining in ban, there are many providing takeaway but are charging one delivery fee for one vendor, making it expensive (in delivery fees) for the customer to be able to enjoy and sample products from multiple vendors.
“With the bazaar and drive through station concept we fix this problem by having a central place to consolidate all the orders. The customer then decides to pick up from this one location or pay one delivery fee to have their order delivered to them, even if their order is from multiple vendors (in a single checkout).”
The online bazaar runs from May 8 to July 31. Non-food and beverage products can be picked up from Weelago’s office or be delivered through Pos Laju or Go Rush.
Meanwhile Weelago’s long-term vendors also announced new promotions. ASUS Brunei distributor CF King introduced their ASUS Perfect Warranty which provides free 12-month protection for new laptops that covers 80% of the repair cost for customer induced damage including spills and breakage.
Distributor of natural Ionized water brand Purion Leesin Sdn Bhd is also giving away 500ml bottles of water to the first 1,000 customers on WeeLah!Go Bazaar and are also hosting a giveaway on their social media of a year’s supply of water (50 cartons).
