Over 200 local businesses are expected to feature in Brunei’s biggest showcase of local brands – Darussalam Enterprise’s (DARe) MSME Festival – from March 28 to 31 at Bridex.
Previously called the Made in Brunei Market Fair, the MSME festival will see both of Bridex’s halls packed with a wide range of local brands from technology to fashion to food & beverage.
A business conference by Asia Inc on tapping into new markets and export will be held from 9.30am to 5pm on the first day, while seminars on starting and growing a business will be held by the Ease of Doing Business Unit from Friday to Sunday.
The founders of Brunei Bean Bag, Al-Huffaz, Tarbiyyah Global, Project Ice Cream, Fuel’d, Mumtaz, YKS Crafts and Koppe will also be opening up on their entrepreneurial journey as part of sharing sessions being held from 2.30pm to 3.30pm from Friday to Sunday.
The MSME festival is part of DARe’s efforts to increase the profile of local brands by encouraging the public to buy local, while also connecting Bruneian businesses with overseas buyers who are scheduled to attend. The event also serves as a platform to socialize business opportunities, processes and support services available for entrepreneurs in Brunei.
With revenue generated by MSMEs increasing from $7.9 billion to $8.3 billion from 2010 to 2015 and private sector employment growing by 16,000 to 115,894 over the same period, increasing market access for local businesses will be key to DARe’s wider mission to build enterprises into dynamic and resilient drivers of economic growth.
