12 Brunei companies with local products are being targeted to participate in Singapore’s largest Hari Raya sales event, the Geylang Serai Bazaar, which will take place in a sprawling new community hub this May 12 to June 14.
Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) are inviting companies producing locally made products with export ambitions – from food to fashion – to participate in the event in rotating shifts lasting five to seven days.
Participating companies will be sponsored a three by three metre booth (shared between two Brunei companies), accommodation as well as shipment up to 30 kilogrammes.
The Geylang Serai Hari Raya Bazaar has historically been one of Singapore’s largest outdoor bazaars, drawing 1.4 million visitors last year with rental soaring to a record high of $17,000 a booth.
This year however, will see the event held indoors, taking centre stage at the opening of Wisma Geylang Serai (WSG), a five-story 6,700 square metre complex which houses a Malay heritage gallery, community clubs and shops.
Brunei businesses have participated in the Tampines Hari Raya Bazaar since 2015, but this year’s opportunity at WSG is arguably the largest Hari Raya sales event in Singapore that Bruneian companies have been invited to.
Other ASEAN countries are also expected to feature, with Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Teo Chee Hean expected to officiate WSG and the bazaar’s launch.
