Crown Prince launches revamped businessBN website

New look and features for website housing information on business related government services and reforms

The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah consented earlier this morning to launch a newly-improved website that provides simple, streamlined information on business related government reforms and services.

BusinessBN – which first launched in January last year – aims to keep the business community and public abreast with the key requirements in doing business in the Sultanate, as well as bringing together the latest government reforms, across all agencies and ministries, to the economic ecosystem under a single, easy-to-understand website.

The website’s new look has consolidated information on starting, running and growing a business into three dedicated categories, with key services offered by the website include a dedicated helpdesk to resolve business issues and inquiries, with a dedicated officer from Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) assigned to each case.

The launch, which took place at Bridex earlier this morning as part of the inaugural Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Innovation Conference and Expo and the Brunei China-ASEAN Expo Exhbition 2017, is part of the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Steering Committee’s efforts to increase awareness on regulatory reforms affecting the business community.

The content communicated as well as the website’s layout emphasizes clarity and ease of use, while also housing a newsletter option which users can sign up for if they want to receive the latest updates on newly introduced reforms and initiatives.

“By providing easy access to the latest information on improvements to the business environment, (it is hoped) the positive impact of the reforms will be seen and felt by the business community faster than in the past,” said EODB in a press statement.

The Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, added that HRH the Crown Price and Senior Minister’s steer and leadership as the Chairman of the PENGGERAK Steering Committee – tasked with identifying the key areas that need to be implemented by the government in order for the country to achieve the national vision of Wawasan Brunei 2035 of a dynamic and sustainable economy – has been instrumental to Brunei earning the title for ‘most improved’ economy for doing business in for the second straight year in 2016.

“Alhamdulillah the government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will continue to put forward an inter-agency effort to overcome the issues that businesses face, including reducing bureaucratic processes, so that our economic ecosystem can continuously improve,” said the minister, who chairs the EODB Steering Committee.

EODB added that they are encouraging and working to gain more private sector feedback and participation to identify valuable changes that would have a positive impact on the business environment in the long term.
